Miso Privacy Policy
Miso is a local-first notes and tasks app for macOS. This policy explains what Miso stores, where it goes, and the choices available to you.
Last updated: August 9, 2026
The short version
Miso does not require an account and does not include advertising, analytics, tracking, or a developer-operated backend. Your notes stay on your Mac unless you choose to enable iCloud Sync. Miso's developer cannot read your local notes or browse the contents of your private iCloud database.
Notes and app settings
Miso stores your notes, tasks, and deletion history in its app container on your Mac. Preferences such as appearance, writing assistance, task visibility, and the global shortcut are stored locally in macOS preferences.
This information is not sent to Miso's developer.
Optional iCloud Sync
iCloud Sync is off until you enable it in Miso Settings. When enabled, Miso uses Apple's CloudKit service and your private iCloud database to keep notes and deletions consistent across your Apple devices. Miso does not operate a sync server or create a separate account.
Apple processes iCloud data under your Apple Account and Apple's terms and privacy policy. Miso's developer does not have access to the contents of your private CloudKit database.
Turning iCloud Sync off stops active syncing but keeps your local notes and the existing private iCloud copy. Signing out of iCloud or switching Apple Accounts also disables sync and resets Miso's local sync state without deleting local notes. Re-enabling sync checks the current Apple Account before syncing.
Deleting a note while iCloud Sync is enabled synchronizes that deletion to other connected devices. To remove synced notes, delete them in Miso while sync is enabled, or use Apple's controls for managing iCloud data. Removing Miso or turning sync off does not by itself delete data already stored in iCloud.
Diagnostics
Miso contains no analytics or third-party crash-reporting software and sends no diagnostics to a Miso-operated server. Apple may collect and share App Store or TestFlight crash and diagnostic information according to your Apple diagnostic sharing settings. If Apple makes a report available to the developer, it is used only to diagnose and improve Miso.
Support messages
If you email support, the developer receives the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. That information is used only to answer your request, diagnose the issue, and maintain necessary correspondence. It is kept only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes. You can ask for a support conversation to be deleted by emailing support@miso-notes.com.
Support messages are sent by your email provider outside Miso. Do not include private note content unless it is necessary and you choose to share it.
Tracking, advertising, and third parties
Miso does not track you across apps or websites, sell personal information, show ads, or include third-party SDKs. It does not collect payment information; Apple handles App Store purchases.
Changes
If Miso's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy details will be updated before the change is released.
